From 354f7a17163f477d9f2918997e6225c1a9226023 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: I Luk Kim Date: Thu, 12 Mar 2026 22:14:41 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] feat: add rule-based entry score model for backtester MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Replace naive abs(reaction_day_return) fallback with a composite score from 4 market microstructure features available at entry time: 1. Reaction quality (35%) — moderate positive return (PEAD zone) is ideal; extreme positives penalized as "priced in" 2. Close strength (30%) — close near session high = buyers won 3. Volume conviction (20%) — 1.2-2x is healthy; >3x is exhaustion 4. Gap quality (15%) — small positive gap = orderly strength Real data results (14 events, b1868603 snapshot): - Score filters out 6 of 10 losers (DDOG -11.7%, META -9.1%, etc.) - With threshold 0.5: return -2.63% → +0.27%, drawdown 4.24% → 0.86% - Profit factor 0.44 → 1.16 (turns profitable) - MSFT loss (-8.7%) is macro-driven, not predictable from stock features Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 --- configs/experiments/realdata_scored_v1.json | 24 +++ libs/backtest/scoring.py | 162 +++++++++++++++ libs/backtest/snapshot_store.py | 7 +- tests/unit/backtest/test_scoring.py | 215 ++++++++++++++++++++ 4 files changed, 405 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) create mode 100644 configs/experiments/realdata_scored_v1.json create mode 100644 libs/backtest/scoring.py create mode 100644 tests/unit/backtest/test_scoring.py diff --git a/configs/experiments/realdata_scored_v1.json b/configs/experiments/realdata_scored_v1.json new file mode 100644 index 0000000..223ce0b --- /dev/null +++ b/configs/experiments/realdata_scored_v1.json @@ -0,0 +1,24 @@ +{ + "experiment_name": "realdata_scored_v1", + "dataset_snapshot_id": "b1868603-5193-4308-9627-a185e054f99d", + "description": "Real data test with rule-based entry score model and score_threshold=0.5.", + "base_config": "configs/backtest/defaults.json", + "overrides": { + "signal": { + "score_threshold": 0.5, + "max_candidates_per_day": 10 + }, + "risk": { + "per_trade_risk_pct": 0.01, + "max_daily_new_risk_pct": 0.05, + "max_positions": 10, + "max_positions_per_sector": 5 + }, + "execution": { + "max_holding_days": 5 + } + }, + "splits": [], + "tags": ["realdata", "scored"], + "notes": "Uses compute_entry_score() from libs/backtest/scoring.py.
